What are Micropiles?
Micropiles are deep foundation piles comprised of high-strength, small-diameter hollow steel threaded bars. Typically less then 12 inches in diameter, they are drilled into the soil. Grout is injected into the ground through the end of the micropile and acts to fill any voids around the pile creating a strong weight supporting anchor that is tied into a structure's foundation. They are commonly used to strengthen and replace failing foundation systems in addition to reinforcing ebankments/slopes and provide landslide stabilization. The advantage of using micropiles is the ability to install in tight access areas with low headroom — allowing installation under existing structures. Micropile installation is our specialty.
